Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the insertion of sterile, single use needles into acupuncture points to achieve a therapeutic response. First, I take a thorough health history to determine a pattern diagnosis according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Then, I design a custom acupuncture-point prescription according to your pattern and presenting symptoms. When we are out of balance, symptoms arise caused by the disharmony. The stimulating of acupuncture points acts as a catalyst to stimulate physiological processes to bring your body back to a state of equilibrium and ease discomfort.

Herbal Medicine
Exploring the world of Canonical Chinese Medicine® opens up a holistic approach to healing that delves deeper than just addressing symptoms. By targeting the root causes of conditions, herbal remedies work to rebalance the body naturally and gently. This alternative method offers a chemical-free path to wellness, free from the common side effects linked to pharmaceutical solutions. We honor traditional practices that have been passed down through generations, originating from the canonical texts of the Chinese Han dynasty.

Manual Therapies
These accessory techniques are used to enhance the therapeutic effect of acupuncture and are determined whether they are needed (or not) on a case by case basis. Cupping involves the suctioning of the skin into a glass or silicone cup, for a therapeutic result that is similar to a massage. Gua sha is the scraping of the skin with a tool. Both cupping and gua sha sometimes result in “sha” which is petechiae on the skin that looks similar to a hickey or a bruise. This coloration is not a bruise and does not hurt. It fades away in a few days, once our lymph system can flush it out. In Chinese medicine we look at this as removing blood stagnation, so your body can more easily get rid of dead blood cells and bringing fresh blood and oxygen to your muscles and connective tissue to relieve pain. It is great for releasing fascia and muscle tension. When indicated, you may also be prescribed a topical herbal formula in the form of a foot soak, liniment or balm/cream.
